Product introduction


Paraformaldehyde is a white crystalline powder formed by the polymerization of formaldehyde molecules, with a special pungent smell of formaldehyde. It is relatively stable at room temperature, but it easily decomposes to release formaldehyde gas when heated. It is soluble in dilute acids and dilute alkalis, but has poor solubility in organic solvents such as methanol. Paraformaldehyde, as a polymer of formaldehyde, possesses the chemical reactivity of formaldehyde. Due to its polymerized state, it is more convenient and safe for storage and transportation. It is often used in the production of high molecular materials such as phenolic resin and urea-formaldehyde resin. It is also an important raw material for intermediates in pharmaceuticals, pesticides (such as herbicides), and dyes. Additionally, it can be used as a disinfectant and preservative. It is often used as a substitute for formaldehyde in the field of organic synthesis to participate in chemical reactions.
