Polyaluminium chloride (PAC), abbreviated as polyaluminium, is a water-soluble inorganic high-molecular polymer between AlCl3 and Al(OH)3, with the chemical formula [Al2(OH)nCl6-n]m, where m represents the degree of polymerization and n indicates the neutrality degree of the polyaluminium chloride product. n=1 to 5 are high-charge polymer ring chains with Keggin structure, which have a high electro-neutralization and bridging effect on colloids and particles in water, and can effectively remove toxic substances and heavy metal ions. They are stable in nature and are often used as new water purification materials and coagulants, widely applied in the purification treatment of drinking water, industrial wastewater and urban sewage.

Application
1. Drinking water treatment: As a flocculant, polyaluminium chloride can effectively remove suspended solids, colloidal particles, heavy metal ions and other harmful substances from water. Its advantage is that it has a remarkable flocculation effect and can achieve better treatment results at a low dosage.
2. Wastewater treatment: Polyaluminium chloride is used to remove harmful substances from industrial wastewater and domestic sewage, such as oil stains, dyes, petroleum substances and other organic pollutants. Due to its highly efficient removal capacity, polyaluminium chloride is often used in combination with other water treatment chemicals (such as coagulant AIDS and flocculation auxiliary agents) as a flocculant.
3. River water treatment: In cases of eutrophication and deterioration of water quality, polyaluminium chloride can be used to treat algal blooms and harmful substances in river water, improving water quality.
4. Pulp and paper industry: In the treatment of papermaking wastewater, polyaluminium chloride can effectively remove suspended solids, pulp fibers, and surfactants and other pollutants in water, reducing COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand).
5. Chemical Industry: During the chemical production process, wastewater often contains pollutants such as acids, alkalis, salts and metal ions. Polyaluminium chloride can effectively remove these pollutants through flocculation, reducing water pollution.
6. Food industry: In the wastewater treatment of food processing industries such as sugar factories and wineries, polyaluminium chloride can remove suspended solids, color, and oils, etc.
